- SOUTH AFRICA. Pond, 1892. NGC EF-40. Fr-2; KM-10.2; Hern-Z45. “Single Shaft” Wagon. Housed within an older NGC holder with a low six digit submission number. RARE. For the date, the more desirable type and a coin that is missing from nearly all comprehensive collections of South African gold. Conservatively graded with muted somewhat subdued luster which would appear to be the benchmark for the grade, more so than the limited evidence of circulation. A very wholesome looking fully original coin that is sure to spark a blaze of determined bidder activity as it approaches the auction close. Estimate: $2,000 - $3,000. NGC EF-40.
