- A very attractive and high end looking CHOICE AU 54-D half eagle. One of the more common dates in lower grade, like all branch mint gold, CAC approved examples are quite RARE in all grades. Only a hint of friction can be seen on the surfaces of this lovely toned, totally original example. Orange and greenish gold accents are brought out by a sensational surviving luster. The strike is bold and the surfaces are generally clean and free of distracting marks from its brief time in circulation. The eye appeal is VERY HIGH END for the assigned grade. PCGS 32, NGC 21, CAC 4. No CAC-approved AU53 has ever sold in auction. The PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $6,000. We think this one is worthy of a strong bid, the Fairmount Hendricks coin, a similar looking AU58 CAC sold for $11,400 in April 2022.
