- GREAT BRITAIN. Noble, ND (1356-61). London Mint; mm: cross 3 (4). Edward III. PCGS AU-58.
S-1490; Fr-89; N-1180. Fourth coinage, pre-treaty period, series G. Obverse: Edward, holding sword and shield, standing facing in ship with bowsprit; ornaments: 1-1-1-1, ropes: 3/2, quatrefoils: 4/3, lis: 3/3; Reverse: Voided short cross potent over cross fleuree; in each angle, crown over lion passant over trefoil; at center, Є within quadrilobe; all within polylobe, with trefoils in spandrels. On the cusp of Mint State status, this elegant gold striking presents dazzling brilliance and a flan that remains tantalizingly free from issue.
Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000.
Provenance: From the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection.
