详细说明: FROM THE PERFECTION COLLECTION OF CAPPED BUST HALF DOLLARS One of the FINEST KNOWN examples of this important and historic transitional issue. The mintage is reported at PCGS CoinFacts as being 5,000, while the Red Book has it listed at 1,200+. Regardless, this is a virtual GEM survivor of a very small mintage, most of the known examples (CoinFacts estimates 1,000 in all grades) are well worn and many have issues that preclude 3rd party grading. This is an old friend, having last sold in our December 2013 Regency Auction V. It is just as stunning today as it was back then! High end quality in every way! Magnificently clean, smooth surfaces are highlighted by a satiny mint frost. Both sides have a rich blanket of iridescent pale blue, soft olive-green, lilac, lavender, and slate patina. The devices offer a strong strike from a strong blow from the new steam press. The surfaces are nearly flawless and the eye appeal is that of an even higher grade. While the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $72,500. This coin is clearly finer and nicer than the MS64 CAC that we sold in September 2018 for a world record $79,313, and we expect this GEM will bring a very strong price from date or first year of type collectors.
