- Tied for second FINEST graded at PCGS, it is a SUPERB example of this important KEY date! While a key date in all grades, it is also a major condition rarity! Boasting a brilliant, snow white luster, surfaces are exquisite and offer virtual perfection in preservation. Not even the tiniest ticks can be found to distract the eye, and the luster is full and fresh. The devices are sharp, the central band is fully split and rounded and Liberty's hair details are fully rendered with full, crisp definition. Essentially untoned, there is just a touch of very light iridescent, silver white tone attesting to its originality. The American economy took a short but sharp stumble in 1921 as the businesses converted back from producing war goods to peacetime activities. Farm prices fluctuated downward. These economic machinations dropped the demand for new coins so several dates saw much lower mintages than commonly seen in this era. This Denver Mint 1921 dime is destined to be a major highlight of an advanced collection and will certainly well represent this elusive issue as close to perfection as can be imagined. PCGS 28, NGC 13, CAC 9. There are a half dozen graded MS66+ FB. The last PCGS/CAC MS66+ FB sold in the 2019 FUN auction for $50,400. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $32,500. Only two examples are graded higher, neither of which have ever sold in auction. This is about as high a grade example as you are ever going to acquire. Bound for a world class Mercury dime collection, this one belongs in the FINEST of PCGS Registry Sets. Cert. Number 82229113 PCGS # 4937.00
