- While in grades up to MS64, the 1878 $3 is ranked among the most common dates it is RARE in MS66 or finer. The present SUPERB GEM, MS67+ is tied for FINEST graded for the date, and one of the FINEST of the entire series. AWESOME, velvety, billowing mint luster radiates all over with an intensity rarely seen on this series. The lustrous surfaces are aglow with an eye arresting brilliance. The devices are sharply struck and the surfaces are essentially without flaw. While a strong glass reveals a couple of insignificant ticks, this impressive SUPERB GEM boasts an eye appeal that is among the best we have seen for the entire type! PCGS 4, NGC 0.
