Netherlands. United Provinces (1543-1795). Holland. 1589 48 Stuivers, or Lion Daalder. Dav-8838. AU-55 (PCGS). A boldly lustrous, light silver-gray and gold toned specimen that has seen very little, if any, actual circulation wear and that exhibits about as bold a strike as you will seen on this type. Lion daalder's have proved very popular due to the connection to New Netherland and the fact that some of the 1709 issues of New York currency are actually denominated in "Lyon Dollars."
