1806 Draped Bust Quarter. B-9. Rarity-1. AU-58 (NGC). A delightful near-Mint example, both sides exhibit iridescent reddish-gold and cobalt blue undertones to warmer steel gray and mauve patina. Boldly defined for the type with plenty of soft mint luster evident as the surfaces rotate under a light. Despite our multiple offerings of Choice AU examples in this sale, the Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle quarter of 1804 to 1807 is among the scarcest and most conditionally challenging among classic U.S. Mint types. This is a superior quality survivor from the 1806 B-9 dies that will appeal to both high grade type collectors and series specialists. Provenance: From the Greenway Collection.
