- Stunningly Toned Russo-Japanese Silver Medal Ex: Virgil M. Brand Collection JAPAN. Silver Tsushima Medal, Year 37/8 (1904/5). PCGS SPECIMEN-65 Gold Shield. 67 mm; 67.39 gms. Cf. Smirnov-1343. Commemorating the Battle of Tsushima. Obverse: Wreath and artillery shell before Japanese Army and Navy flags crossed in saltire; sakura blossoms around; Reverse: Legend in four lines in Japanese within circular maeander border; Japanese legend around; all within circular border of alternating anchors and stars. Exceptionally flawless and brilliant surfaces, with a highly attractive rainbow tone. Includes original case of issue and dealer's sticker. An exceptionally rare piece, especially given the state of preservation and the pedigree. Estimate: $1,800 - $2,400. Provenance: Ex: Virgil M.
