- 1955 Franklin Half Dollar. FS-401. "Bugs Bunny". MS-67 (PCGS). CAC. Featuring an impressive display of rainbow toning, this "Bugs Bunny" Franklin is the single finest graded by PCGS. Mottled emerald and magenta dominate the center of the obverse, followed by peripheral bands of golden-amber, monarch purple, and faint touches of sapphire at the very rim. The reverse, primarily blast white, has small flecks of peripheral amber and russet around the outer legend and fields. Most likely the color is a fortunate product of many decades spent undisturbed, resting in a mint set envelope until some fortunate cherrypicker eyed an incredible find. The bell lines are clear and fully formed, with only a microscopic, very unfortunately placed nick keeping this piece from even loftier heights. Yet its Superb Gem status and eye appeal make it the undisputed champion of this exceedingly popular variety. PCGS Population: 1; none finer. PCGS# 145357.
