- Ex San Diego Collection, as noted on the insert. What a gorgeous and colorful GEM Bust half dollar! This O-110a ranks solidly in the Condition Census for this Rarity-1 variety. An incredible mint brilliance glows boldly on both sides, swirling when rotated in a light. The luster accentuates the pastel blue, rose, and pearlescent silver. Generally well struck with crisp definition in the centers and mostly so on the peripheries (though some dentils and star centers are soft). Struck from the later state, with the die crack from ED to the rim over S(TATES). The eye appeal is lovely, and the GEM quality surfaces are free of distracting contact of any kind. Ex Stephen Cooper Collection, Superior, September 2007, lot 632 (as NGC MS66); intermediaries; Pinnacle Rarities, by private treaty. PCGS 2, NGC 0. None have sold in auction. We sold a PCGS MS65 CAC 1811 Small 8 in the Chicago Collection Regency Auction September 2021 for $20,563 and the last MS66 was a CAC coin that brought nearly $50,000 a decade ago. The PCGS Price Guide value for the variety is listed at $27,500, and $35,000 for the Red Book type. Just five examples have ever graded higher at PCGS across all Small 8 die marriages, this coin will delight anyone working on a quality set. Good luck! Cert. Number 46263194 PCGS # 39435
