- FRANCE. Louis d'Or, 1718-W. Lille Mint. Louis XV (1715-74). NGC MS-62. Fr-453; KM-438.18; Gad-336. A "louis d'or à la croix du Saint-Esprit" struck in Lille while the young king was under regency, with the king's name spelled "LUD" rather than the usual "LVD". Shimmering luster and fully struck, the assigned grade deriving from a few tiny planchet defects on the obverse; the reverse is wholly choice. Nicely struck and attractive. Estimate: $2,000 - $2,500.
