- 1901 United States Assay Commission Medal. Silver. 40 mm x 57 mm, plaque. By Charles E. Barber and George T. Morgan. JK AC-45a. Rarity-5. MS-62 (NGC). Gorgeous multicolored toning on the obverse, with the central part of the reverse in a rosy-orange hue that yields to intense cobalt blue at the periphery. The smooth, fine grain sandblast texture reveals a few trivial contact marks on the higher design elements, none of which are worthy of undue concern. According to the Mint director's annual report, only 40 silver impressions of this type were produced. Click here for certification details from NGC.
