Totally original, this impressive, near-Gem early Seated half was boldly struck on both sides- the reverse die imparting an impressively strong strike considering it had cracked in half in the coining process, leaving a bisecting crack that starts at A in STATES traveling through the left side of the eagle's body through the L in HALF to the rim. A strong mint frost comes through the light dove-tan-gold-russet-olive coloration. For the sake of full disclosure we will note a few microscopic ticks hidden under the tone, but none are distracting to the high end eye appeal. PCGS 7, NGC 11, CAC 4. The only other PCGS/CAC coin to sell in auction last sold for $2,585 in July 2016. The Gardner coin, which was NGC/CAC sold for $2,938 in October 2015. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $3,250 and it would not come as a surprise if this coin realized that or more. Very rare any finer and a great coin for a type set or a high end Mint State set of Seated halves. Cert. Number 25356297 PCGS # 6243
