- "1665" New England Shilling. Fabrication. Newman-NF. Silver. AU-58 (PCGS). 80.2 grains. Extremely rare, this is the only example that we can ever recall handling. The obverse legend presumably expands to something like "Colony of Massachusetts in New England". Newman reports this fabrication in copper also, offered below. Like the Noe A through C copies, this also seems to trace its roots back to New Hampshire, home of other celebrated counterfeiters and fraudsters. Provenance: From the Sydney F. Martin Collection.
