- FROM THE FORMULA 1 COLLECTION. Legend Rare Coin Auctions is proud to present this FINEST KNOWN 1906-D half dollar! Worthy in every way for its lofty numerical grade, the eye appeal is also off the charts spectacular! The surface quality is stunning; close examination with a powerful loupe finds virtually no signs of any kind of contact. A strong, satin luster blooms, enlivening the fantastic array of iridescent tones that drape both sides. The obverse has some wonderful sunset rose hues at the rim, with lilac-sliver gracing the central obverse. The reverse is awash in a deep orange-gold and light blue tones that come to life when rotated in the light. Every detail is crisply struck up, save for the slightest hint of weakness on the right wing, which is typical for the date. You can lose yourself staring at the majestic eye appeal of this AMAZING SUPERB GEM 06-D half. For a Barber half dollar, this coin has a very important and impressive provenance: John C. Hugon Collection; Eugene H. Gardner Collection; Greensboro Collection; Maybach Collection. Remarkably, its prior provenance has never been determined, but it is not the Price nor the Eliasberg coin. PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. In the most recent appearance of this SUPERB GEM, it sold in October 2015 for $39,950; six months earlier in the Gardner Sale, it realized $47,000. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $51,500. This SUPERB GEM is worthy of any WORLD CLASS Barber half dollar collection, it has graced four AMAZING sets in the last 13 or so years! Now you have a chance to own it and give it a permanent home--do not let the opportunity pass you by! Cert. Number 50138434 PCGS # 6505
