- GERMANY. Saxony. Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Erbstein Copper-Nickel Medal, 1883. PCGS SPECIMEN-65 Gold Shield. Merseburger-4498; Wurzbach-1892. By A. Schraff. Obverse: Mantled bust left; Reverse: Juno Moneta standing right, leaning upon pedestal to left and holding tablet. Shimmering and entirely glistening throughout, this lustrous Gem exudes tremendous eye appeal and offers a delightful cobalt hue accentuating the devices. A famous archaeologist and numismatist, Erbstein spent most of his life in Dresden and was the father and grandfather to other Erbsteins who would have numismatic careers as well.
